Local Skiing

    The local mountain of the small and charming town Rossland—about an hour drive from Nelson. Red Mountain, home to the Molson Canadian Freeskiing Challenge, is worth spending a few good days exploring.

  • Whitewater Ski Area
    A big, challenging mountain with a small, family-style lodge and two two-seater chairlifts. For lift-accessed backcountry, this resort is one of the best. Whitewater is an easy 20-minute drive from Nelson and there is a local shuttle van that can make your visit even easier.
