Cherry
Tops Challenge
The 2nd Annual Cherry Tops Challenge was a great success! Mother Nature cooperated -- partially cloudy skies, temps in the mid 20s -- while 63 brave riders pedalled the epic course which is as challenging on the up as it is on the down.
Sweet prize packs full of swag, were awarded for the heaviest bike (winner toted an 18-pack of Kokanee the whole way), the most breakdowns (that will be the last time Olympian snowboarder Mark Fawcett borrows his wife's bike), best outfit (nice cheeks Mia), and youngest (14) and oldest (?!) riders. The best poker hand was Pete Moines' Ace-high full house so he will be the lucky guy enjoying the Baldface powder this New Year's.
Thanks to all event sponsors for support and swag: The Sacred Ride, DaKine, Santa Cruz Bikes, and Nelson Brewing Company.
Our photographer Dave Thomas shot some great images of the event. Check out his site to view them all.
